A Carbon County man was sentenced to a county prison term on Monday on three drug charges.

Michael Lawrence Curry, 28, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve a total of seven to one day less 24 months in the county prison by Judge Joseph J. Matika. He previously pleaded guilty to charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.Curry apologized for his actions, adding, "My drug addiction has affected everything. I just want to move forward and better myself."At a prior court proceeding, Curry appeared under the influence of drugs. Matika revoked his bail and had him remanded to the county prison.Matika said, "Putting you in jail may have saved your life."Curry also did 35 days in an inpatient drug rehabilitation facility.The first drug count stems from an arrest by the vice unit of the state police Hazleton barracks. Curry sold heroin to a confidential informant on April 16, 2015, along East Patterson Street in Lansford. The second set of charges stem from an incident on Sept. 16, 2016, when Lansford police were dispatched to the area of Boyer's Market, 500 W. Bertsch St., for a reported unconscious person. Curry was that person.The jail term was imposed on the possession with intent charge. On the other two counts he was placed on probation for a year on each, running concurrent to each other and the intent count.He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 a month supervision fee when released on parole/probation and render 75 hours of community service when released from custody.He was given credit for 75 days already spent in jail on the charges.
