The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce will begin its 11th Annual Summer Concert Series season onJune 1.The first act to take the stage on the platform of the historic Tamaqua Train Station will be local musician Jay Smar. His appearance is being sponsored by the Schuylkill County Visitors Bureau.The entertainment will continue throughout the summer months, on select Thursdays, weather permitting.The Tamaqua Station Restaurant will provide an opening acoustic act, and reservations are suggested for anyone who wishes to dine on the platform. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session and provided the inspirational reading "I Love You Mom" in honor of Mother's Day.Jane McLaughlin, Rose Vallee and Nancy Moser were welcomed back to the club.Upcoming events include: May 25, memorial service and picnic; June 14, farm market voucher day at the Tamaqua Salvation Army.The group is accepting donations of nonperishable food as part of the upcoming Hunger Walk, which will be held onMay 21.The group is open to anyone 55 or older.Meetings are held at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.Naloxone trainingSchuylkill County Alcohol and Drug Agency and Clinical Outcomes Group Inc. will present a naloxone information and training session in Tamaqua on May 23.
