A contest for six seats on the Lehighton Area School District Board of Education exists between 13 candidates, 11 of which are aspiring to win Democratic and Republican nominations as cross-filed candidates for four four-year terms that are expected to be filled by the electorate.

The 11 people running on both tickets for the four-year terms on the school board are Joy Beers, Duane R. Eidem, Gloria J. Bowman, Katelynn R. Bear, Frank L. Tamburri, Rebecca Worthy, Gail Maholick, Phillip J. Liszka, David F. Bradley Sr., Stacey Lynn Duerst and Stephen L. Holland. Bowman, Eidem, Duerst and Holland are incumbents. Each of them appear on both tickets with the top four from each party advancing to the general election in November.

Two other incumbents seeking two-year terms on the board that are up for grabs are David L. Krause and Larry E. Stern. They are cross-filed on both the Democratic and Republican ballots and are joined by Liszka, Bradley, Maholick, Tamburri, Bear, Worthy and Beers. The top two finishers on each ballot will square off in November.
