Motorcyclist leads police on chase through 2 counties

An Allentown man has been charged after leading police on a chase Friday night.

A Mahoning Township Police officer was traveling east on Mahoning Drive at 8:37 p.m. Friday, when a passing motorcyclist crossed into the lane of the police car, forcing the officer to swerve.The officer turned around and attempted to stop the motorcycle but the driver, Jeremy Beil, refused to stop. The motorcyclist fled through West Penn Township, Tamaqua, Coaldale, Lansford and Summit Hill.He was arrested after going down a dead-end street in Summit Hill.During the chase police learned the driver had a Carbon County bench warrant for his arrest. Police seized marijuana, and a pipe.Beil, 44, was placed in the Carbon County Correctional Facility on the warrant. He is awaiting arraignment on the charges, including: fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, speeding, reckless driving and careless driving.
