Mahoning approves Parryville on joint board

Mahoning Township's board of supervisors approved a request this week for the borough of Parryville to join the Joint Municipal Uniform Construction Code Appeals Board.

The approval was contingent upon Parryville handling any costs, including advertising, in order for the borough to join the board.Mahoning, Franklin, Lehighton, Kidder, Penn Forest, Jim Thorpe, Towamensing, Nesquehoning and East Penn are already involved in the board, which hears and decides appeals taken from decisions made by local building code officials. The board approved advertising to receive bids for paving projects and seal coating for 2017, pending approval with municipal services supervisor John Davis. Advertisements are set to run on May 16 and May 20.The supervisors approved the following bids from Hunsicker Construction:• The removal and disposal of an air conditioner from the first floor office, as well as framing and covering with plywood at the cost of $350.• Roof repairs, including the repair of any loose fasteners with flashing cement, as well as a 21-by-43-foot aluminum roof coating for $670.• The removal and disposal of an existing door, along with the installation of a new door.Current costs for this bid are estimated at a $2,000 down payment, along with $840 at the completion of the project, though the board is looking into a door with different specifications that could lower the bid cost.
