A gun accidentally discharged on Monday, injuring a Monroe County couple — seriously wounding the husband.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident occurred about 8:57 p.m. at the home of Maciej Lechowski, 53, and Nancy Lechowski, 60, of the 8000 block of Natures Drive.According to police, officers responded to the residence for two gunshot victims. Officers found the couple inside the home.The investigation revealed that Nancy was holding a new firearm Maciej purchased when she fired the gun accidentally.The bullet went through her hand and into Maciej’s stomach.Maciej was flown by medical helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, while Nancy was taken by ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono Campus, in East Stroudsburg.Police were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the Coolbaugh Fire Company and the Pocono Mountain Regional EMS unit.
