Wunder running for re-election to Pleasant Valley school board

Daniel Wunder is running for re-election to the Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education. As a proud graduate from the district in 1971, he feels that he has never left PV. He was a teacher and administrator in the Pleasant Valley School District for over 32 years and was named "Outstanding Educator" by the West End Lions Club.

Wunder feels that his former roles in all aspects of the Pleasant Valley school system provide him the experience to serve as a successful board member. As a community member he served on the district's Long Range Planning Committee.Wunder is proud that he chaired the district United Way campaign for 10 years and was a member of the Home School Association (later PTO) for 25 years. He has been inducted into Pleasant Valley's Hall of Fame. His children graduated from Pleasant Valley and were active in the athletic and music programs. Dan serves his church as council president and is a volunteer at the West End Food Pantry and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He has four grandchildren currently attending PV.Wunder holds a lifelong belief that the successful education of our children is the key to everyone in the community having a better future. He feels that the school children in our community today are the leaders and caregivers of tomorrow. He wants to see a school board that works in harmony with the community supporting it; a district that is transparent and respects input and feedback from community members, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and students. He feels that he has established a successful relationship with all those stakeholders that enables him to help guide the district through the challenges of declining enrollment, changes to state and federal funding of schools, and new standards of testing and evaluation. He points out that Pleasant Valley has not had a tax increase in six years while working through many challenging issues. He wants Pleasant Valley to continue to be a source of pride to everyone in the community.
