Spring tea

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club held its annual Spring Tea on April 25 at the United Church of Christ in Barnesville. The evening included a presentation on Essentials Oils, offered by Judy Midas.The next regular meeting of the club will be held at 7 p.m. May 27 in the social hall of Zion Church of Lewistown Valley. The May arrangement will be any fresh flower in a patriotic container, while the specimen category will be any blooming flower or shrub. The program will include a presentation by Barb and Colleen's Unique Craft Studio and will include the opportunity to create a craft item.New members are always welcome. President Bill Morrison conducted the business session. The inspirational reading "Thoughts To Ponder" was given by the chaplain.A moment of silence was held in memory of Bruce Johnson.Two new members, Nancy Eisley and Barbara Cessaro, were given warm welcomes.A number of upcoming events were discussed, including: June 27, anniversary dinner, noon, at Capriotti's in McAdoo; July 25, picnic at St. Peter's Grove, catered by Hess Catering.Members were reminded they would need to have STS Transportation cards to participate in any trips using STS buses as transportation.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville. The next meeting will be held May 9.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.Zion LewistownPastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Rogation Sunday at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. The service will include Communion. Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m.Next week's activities include: Tuesday, fundraiser committee meets at 6:30 p.m., preschool board meets at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, OWLS meet at 11 a.m., consistory meets at 6:30 p.m.The Guild will host a program and brunch in honor of Mother's Day on May 13.Calvary ECThe Rev. Phillip Sabas will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, an evening service, with congregational song choices, will be held at 6:30 p.m.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Kenneth Buckwalter will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church in Mantzville.
