Serfass seeks re-election to Pleasant Valley board

Robert Serfass is running for Pleasant Valley School Board for another four years. Serfass and his family are graduates of Pleasant Valley.

Serfass has worked in commercial and residential construction for more than 40 years. He has owned and operated Chestnut Ridge Homes, Serfass Custom Homes and is co-owner of Serfass Drilling. He said his community has been very good to him through the years, allowing him to be successful, and now is the time in his life that he wants to give back. The school district and community have always been a priority for him. Serfass currently serves on four boards throughout the county: Monroe County Agriculture and Land Preservation for over 19 years, Polk Township Board of Appeals, Polk Township Agricultural Security, and Pleasant Valley School Board.A priority is not raising school taxes. Some of the things Serfass has been part of to save tax dollars in the past four years are, a five-year maintenance plan, a Guaranteed Energy Savings Project, saving approximately $1 million. In addition, leasing Chestnuthill and Polk schools to The Growing Place helps to pay for the maintenance and upkeep of the property, while creating more than 70 jobs for the community. These are just some of the past practices that have kept school taxes at 0 percent increase over the past 4 years while Serfass has served on the board.Serfass says hisexperience in owning a business and commercial construction will be vital over the next four years. The board is looking at a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation project impacting more than 5,000 feet of Pleasant Valley's road frontage and 4 acres of their property. The roof restoration and replacement project is ongoing within the 5-year maintenance plan. Serfass says he strongly feels his background plays a solid role for the school board.Experience will keep the district going in the right direction to best serve the students and community."I am asking for your support to re-elect me on May 16. I will do my best to represent you the voter and taxpayer. Thank you for your vote."
