East Penn Twp. clarifies sign ordinance

Chairman William Schwab took time at Tuesday's meeting to clarify an ordinance that the East Penn Township supervisors adopted last month, which requires residents to identify their home with a green lettered sign for emergency services location efforts.

"If you are on a lane, it should be on the end of your driveway on your lane, not at the end of the lane," Schwab said. "It doesn't do the fire company any good if you have six houses on the lane. … They can find Lilac Lane, but they need the address on each one."Signs are available for purchase from the fire company, or from hardware stores including Home Depot and Lowe's Home Improvement.Steve Heckman reported that the first portion of the Sportsman Club Road project has been completed."If anybody gets a chance to drive that, they'll be very impressed with the work they did," he said of the road crew's efforts.Heckman said that the 2017 road projects are currently underway, starting with Picnic Woods, which should take approximately two weeks to complete. Churchill will be next."If you don't have to be in those areas, I recommend to tell your friends, tell your neighbors to stay away, because they'll be going at it pretty hot and heavy," he said.In other business• The Jonathan and Shelby Ammary subdivision with Keystone Consulting was granted a 90-day extension until July 15.• A discussion concerning a proposal for shared police services with the West Penn Police Department has been tabled until July's meeting.• A discussion to revise the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance to add GPS coordinates was tabled until July's meeting.• A discussion concerning the purchase of a pickup has been tabled until further research is conducted.• A motion was passed that allows Vice Chairman Deanna L.
