Duerst is seeking re-election to the Lehighton school board

Stacey Lynn Duerst is seeking election to her current seat on the Lehighton Area School Board. She has resided in Lehighton for 13 years.

She has spent the past six years serving the students and families of Lehighton Area School District by creating programs and opportunities for the students and families to foster a greater sense of community.When her daughter entered Franklin Elementary, Duerst became actively involved in the Franklin Elementary PTO, serving as the president from 2011-16. She fostered an environment of collaboration between parents and staff. She implemented the Race for Brilliance, which doubled the PTO's fundraising, she created Franklin Run Club to promote fitness, goal setting, and hard work, and expanded the activities sponsored by the PTO.Duerst wants to continue to focus on the links between home, community and school to create increased success for students. As part of her Lehighton board service, Duerst is participating on the Lehighton Area Memorial Library board, looking for ways to increase fundraising to ultimately increase library services.She also participates on the finance committee, negotiations committee and wellness committee. Duerst also helps coach her daughter's 10U softball team for Franklin Township Athletic Association.Duerst is currently a certified instructor of American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid training for Complete Training Solutions. Stacey earned a Bachelor of Science in polymer science from Pennsylvania State University.She previously worked for Air Products for 15 years in the Polymer Technology and Materials Research Centers.
