May 1, 2002 - Eileen Gurcsik and Katie Mussoline both win two events to help the Tamaqua girls track team defeat Shamokin, 91-59, and clinch a share of the Schuylkill League Division I title. The Blue Raider boys also post an 86-64 victory to complete the sweep. Gurcsik captures the 100 and 200, while Mussoline takes both hurdling events. The Raiders, coached by Phil Houm, also receive firsts from Jodi Pearson (3200), Jenn Hartman (shot put), Jess Diekman (discus), and Shanna Hill (long jump). In the boys meet, Todd Breiner wins both hurdling events.
