A Delaware County man admitted to a drug charge before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II on Monday in Carbon County court.
Benjamin Wayne Kief, 27, of Newtown Square, Delaware County, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on May 22, 2016, along Interchange Road in Franklin Township when state police at Lehighton responded to the Square One Market to a report of an intoxicated male in the store and roaming the parking lot. Troopers found Kief at the store and also needles used to inject methamphetamine in the bathroom, where store employees said he had been before leaving the store.Kief's plea was taken via video conference call from the Chester County prison, where he is serving a prison term for a probation violation. The term runs to December, at which time he will be released from the prison but then must enter a drug rehabilitation program.Nanovic sentenced him to serve three to 12 months in prison, concurrent with the Chester County sentence, and ordered a drug and alcohol evaluation.
