A Northampton County man was sentenced to a county prison term on Thursday in Carbon County court on three counts of retail theft.

Shawn Dale Haynes, 44, of Bangor, and formerly of Scranton, was sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika to serve a total of nine to one day less 24 months on the three charges.Haynes was charged for incidents at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township. The three counts are all ratedfelonies. The thefts occurred on Oct. 9, Nov. 2 and 5, of 2016.In addition to the prison term, Haynes was ordered to get a mental health evaluation, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole, and make total restitution to Walmart for $1,326.63 and stay out of the store.
