Two hikes are planned for state parks in Schuylkill County.
Naturalist Robin Tracey of Tuscarora State Park, Barnesville, will lead a hike on the Crow, Lake View and Spirit trails onMay 6 beginning at 10:30 a.m.The hike is 9 miles long and moderate in difficulty. The hike combines the best of the trails in Tuscarora Park.Participants will meet in the Crow Trail parking lot off Tuscarora Mountain Road.This is a dog-friendly hike, but all pets must be leashed and get along with other pets and people. Shine only and bring a lunch.The second hike is on May 12. Tracey will lead a hike at Swatara State Park.The trail is 8 miles long and moderate. The trail runs parallel to Swatara Creek. The hike will go down to the old steel bridge and crossing to make a loop around the back part of the park.Participants will also be hiking down to Bordner cabin. Meet at 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot on Sand Siding Road, just off Route 443, in Suedberg. Bring a lunch and water.Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed and get along with other pets and people.
