Coaldale police cite two for DUIs

Coaldale Police released information on two suspected DUI cases.

Robert Bachert, 67, ofBull Run Street, Coaldale, was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay in the lane of travel, careless driving and failure to use a seat belt after a traffic stop on April 8.An officer was monitoring traffic at 1:08 a.m. when he saw a yellow pickup traveling east on Route 209 at a high rate of speed. The truck crossed the center line several times before being stopped. The driver was identified as Bachert, who refused to do field sobriety tests due to a medical condition.He was given a preliminary breath test, which registered 0.189 percent, more than double the legal limit of 0.08. He refused blood tests when taken to St. Luke's Miners Campus.Daryl Greenawalt, 54, ofWest Bertsch Street, Lansford, was cited for DUI, careless driving, driving in the wrong lane and failure to wear a seat belt after police received the results of blood tests taken on Feb. 21.Greenawalt was driving a Chevy Silverado pickup at 10:58 p.m. that day when he caught the attention of an officer who was on patrol. The truck was stopped on Route 209, near the Lansford borough line, after it kept weaving back and forth, crossing the center and fog lines. Greenawalt was given, and failed, field sobriety tests before being taken to St. Luke's Miners Campus for blood tests.The test results indicate he had a 0.19 percent blood alcohol content.
