Polk Twp. to begin work on Hell Hollow culvert

Polk Township is preparing to begin work this summer on the Hell Hollow culvert.

Chairman Brian Ahner said that work on the project could take more than a month to complete. The township will be advertising for bids in May.The road department has removed the plows and spreaders for the year and has begun sweeping the roads.The township will also be advertising for road repairs and expects to repair about 12 roads this year that are in need a work. The work this year will be mostly patching, according to Ahner. Upper Middle Creek Road was noted as the road in need of the most significant repairs.Roads nearest to Hell Hollow will not be repaired before the culvert being replaced to avoid any additional damage brought about by the heavy equipment needed for the replacement of the culvert.The township will also hire Bruce George to repair the floor to the salt shed at a cost of $3,500.The township has agreed to extend its agreement with Paige Costenbader to maintain the veterans memorial and will contact her with regard to landscaping the new township welcome signs.
