Library hosts photography show

This Sunday is the 11th annual photography show at the Palmerton Area Public Library. The show is a fundraiser sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

The show will run from 1-3 p.m. in the gallery. Tickets to attend cost $3 and are available at the library. There will be a People's Choice Award for a photographer with a cash prize, said Chuck Laviolette, president of the library's board of directors. Each ticket will provide the attendees with an opportunity to vote on their favorite artwork. The photographs are for sale and every piece of artwork is framed. A portion of the proceeds will go to the library.Any photographs that do not sell will remain in the gallery for two weeks, but the photographer does have the option to take it home. Those that remain can be purchased throughout the two weeks."We're seeing a lot of different types of photos coming in," said Laviolette. With the aid of computer software, "we're finding there's no limit with what they can do."The photographs range from scenic landscapes and up-close-and-personal flowers to photo images with a computer twist that has to be seen to be explained. For Laviolette, nature is his favorite."I like to see natural shots, like the bird in flight," he said.Light refreshments will also be served at the exhibit. For more information about the art show, contact the library at 610-826-3424.
