Walnutport man wanted for fleeing traffic stop

A Walnutport man is wanted in Monroe County after allegedly stealing a vehicle during a traffic stop.

Eric Ryan Messick, 33, is wanted in connection with an incident that occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to Pocono Mountain Regional Police, Messick was the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on Route 390 in northern Monroe County. Police stopped the vehicle because the driver did not dim its high beams.

After the driver was removed from the vehicle on suspicion of DUI, Messick reportedly slid over to the driver's seat, and stole the vehicle.

The vehicle was later found abandoned.

Two witnesses identified the driver as Messick, even though he had reportedly given a false name during the traffic stop.

The woman who had been driving the vehicle prior to the initial stop, 25-year-old Emily Fatzinger of Greentown, Pike County, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs.

Messick is wanted on felony charges of theft, fleeing and eluding, as well as various misdemeanor charges.
