Camp Evergreen is a weekend-long, overnight camp that is held for children between the ages of 6 and 16 who have experienced a recent death of a loved one within their family or community. The camp is free and will be held July 29 to July 30 at Camp Fowler in Orefield.
The camp is designed to mix traditional camp activities with others that are geared to help strengthen campers' coping skills. The children can gather in safe, peer-to-peer environment to learn new ways of expressing their feelings.Chaplains, social workers, specially trained volunteers and nurses are on site at all times to supervise and oversee all camp activities. All staff and volunteers undergo background checks and child abuse clearances.Camp registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. July 29.
