Heroin town hall

A town-hall meeting to discuss the heroin epidemic will be held today in the Tamaqua Middle School auditorium. Time will be from 6 to 8 p.m.Speakers will include Dr. Rachel Levine, Physician General of Pennsylvania; Dr. Ernest Scully, medical Director of St. Luke's Care Now; Judge James A. Goodman, Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas; and Judge Joseph Matika, Carbon County Court of Common Pleas.The public is welcome to attend.Time travelersThe Tamaqua Historical Society is looking to travel back in time to the 19th and early 20th centuries through the Tamaqua Heritage Players group. The group is looking for volunteers willing to serve as re-enactors of those time periods.An initial meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 22 at the Tamaqua Historical Society Annex, 114 W. Broad St.The group is looking for men, women and children interested in learning more about the local coal mining heritage and its impact on history. Vice President Nancy Gerber conducted the business session. The chaplain provided the inspirational reading "Ah, It's Spring."Upcoming events include: trip to the Dutch Way Restaurant in Myerstown onMonday; guest speaker on Medicare on April 20.The group is open to anyone 55 or older.
