Jim Thorpe Area School Board approved a motion for a building assessment at Monday's meeting.

The assessment on the district office will be conducted by Barry Isett & Associates Inc. The cost for the "structure and usage" evaluation will be limited to $10,000.Other businessThe board also voted on the following motions:• Commencement speech adviser Christine Rosenberger's resignation was approved, effective March 13.• Robert Podlinski was approved as commencement speech adviser at a rate of $220.• High School Quarterz Game Club adviser Nora Oswald was approved for resignation, effective March 21.• Secondary social studies teacher Robert Lee was approved for retirement, effective at the end of the 2016-17 school year.• Amy Patton was approved as a long-term substitute nurse, BS Step 1, with a prorated salary of $44,100.• Victoria Nichols was approved as a long-term substitute art teacher, BS Step 1, with a prorated salary of $44,100.• Tyler Mangold, an elementary education major from Bloomsburg University, was approved as a student teacher for fall 2017.• Graduation day has been set for 6

p.m.June 9 at the high school.• A motion to approve a submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for an Act 80, or noninstructional day, for Oct. 10, 2016, was passed.
