A New York man was killed in a crash on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m. on I-81 North, just before Pine Grove, according to state police.

An 83-year-old man was operating a Chevrolet truck when he lost control of his vehicle, struck a guard rail and overturned into a ditch.

The man, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him as Carl A. Constantino of Kellar Avenue in Schenectady, N.Y.

Police said that the crash may have been caused in part by the utility trailer that Constantino was pulling at the time of the crash.

Traffic restrictions were in place on Interstate 81 as a result of the crash.

Personnel from Suedberg Fire Co., Pine Grove Fire Co., Schuylkill EMS and Schuylkill County Coroner's office all assisted on scene.
