Holy Week

St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, has announced its Holy Week services. It will begin with the Maundy Thursday service, at 5:30 p.m. Guest preacher for the evening will be Bishop Samuel Zeiser. The service will conclude with the stripping of the altar. Following the service, there will be a Holy Week dinner in the fellowship hall. Members of St. John's East will join for the evening.Good Friday service will be held at 2 p.m. There will be projected artworks to amplify the theme of the Lutheran Stations of the Cross.There will be no Saturday evening service this week. Easter Sunday, the Day of Resurrection, will be celebrated with the Holy Communion service at 10:30 a.m.Egg huntThe Diligent Fire Company No. 3, Center Avenue, will hold the 70th annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday in the parking lot of the firehouse, beginning at 1 p.m.The event is open to children up to the age of 10. All children participating will receive a chocolate bunny and there will be 64 other prizes awarded.Community dinnerSt. Mark's Episcopal Church, Race Street, will hold the free community dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. April 23.Contact Ann Louise Hayes at 570-325-4435.
