Beltzville State Park will host a home-school hike on exploring vernal pools from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Students from ages 7 to 13 can join an educational hike to explore one of Beltzville's vernal pools, which are temporary bodies of water that host special flora and fauna. Many animals, like salamanders and frogs, use the pools as a breeding ground, or as a food source.Registration for this event is required.To register, visit the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' website at
