Eldred honors lifelong resident

Eldred Township supervisors proclaimed March 7 as Constance Andrews Day in honor of the lifelong resident and longtime teacher's 100 birthday.

Andrews taught for over 60 years and continued as a substitute teacher until she reached the age of 95. Today Andrews lives on her own and still drives as she continues to keep busy by teaching scherenschnitte, or papercutting, at the Eldred Township Community Center. The supervisors read a proclamation at Wednesday evening's meeting and presented it to Andrews."I am not going to give a speech," Andrews said. "I bet some of you are happy about that."
