The Chestnuthill Township supervisors have adopted a resolution accepting the agreement of sale on property owned by Lee and Patromila Hoffer. The property is located along Little Mexico Road near the intersection of Effort Neola Road.

The township plans on using the property as part of the parks and open spaces plan. The agreement of sale is contingent upon receipt of 50 percent of the purchase price in matching grants from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.The Hoffers originally sent a price of $6,000 per acre on the property. The property is currently being appraised as part of the agreement.During Monday evening's meeting, supervisor Chris Eckert said the blizzard of 2017 cost the township around $40,000."That number includes materials, overtime for our crews and contractors," Eckert said.Resident Laura Jecker took the opportunity to thank the township for the job well-done by the road crews during the storm."Those guys did such a great job," Jecker said. "Our development was very well taken care of. Those guys were on the ball."Eckert said it was all due to roadmaster Dave Scheller taking the reins a few years ago and turning the road department around."There are a lot of things that the road department does that really saves our taxpayers a lot of money," Chairman Carl Gould said in praise of Scheller as well.During the meeting the supervisors also recognized two Boy Scouts from Troop 98 who have reached the rank of Eagle Scout.Mark Bartolacci will be Eagle Scout number 114 for Troop 98. Bartolacci's project included landscaping around the new West End Regional Park sign and adding park benches.Raymond Charles Pasqua III will be Eagle Scout Number 113 for Troop 98. Pasqua's project was conducted at the Chestnuthill Park where he repaired and replaced landscaping and signage."We are very proud of the Scouts from Chestnuthill and we have benefited from them greatly," Gould said. "What is great, too, is that after these projects are complete, they always manage to make sure that they stay well kept up. They don't just let things go after they are done."Scoutmaster Steve Rhoads addressed the supervisors as well."We have promoted 20 Eagle Scouts in the five years that I have been leading Troop 98," Rhoads said. "Of those 20 Scouts, on at least 75 percent of those projects, the Scouts have worked with Bernie (Kozen)."Bartolacci and Pasqua will have their Eagle Scout ceremonies later this spring.
