April 6, 1961 - Roy Semmel captures three events to help Lehighton post a 77-18 Lehigh Valley League track victory over Slatington. Semmel claims the pole vault (9-6), high jump (5-8) and broad jump (19-6 1/2) as the Indians win nine of the 11 events. Denny Leyer breaks the tape in the 440 (59.3) and is part of the winning 4/5 mile relay team. Other individual wins come from Paul Keiser in the 880 (2:18.3), R. Haberman in the mile (5:09), Ron Steigerwalt in the discus (116-10), and Dick Steigerwalt in the shot put (40-10 1/2).
