Nesquehoning woman jailed on multiple charges

A Nesquehoning woman faces multiple charges after she lied to police and had a warrant out for her arrest.

Danielle Diane Eremus, 28, of West Ridge Street, was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, providing false identification to police and firearm violations.According to the affidavit filed by Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith, on March 23, officer Carl Breiner received information from a resident that there was a bench warrant out for Eremus' arrest and that she was living in the borough. The owner of the home spoke with the resident who reported Eremus' location to police and confirmed that she was staying at that home.At that point, Eremus fled.As Smith was on patrol to look for Eremus, he saw a woman walking on West Railroad Street who resembled Eremus. He spoke to the woman and asked for identification. The woman, later identified as Eremus, told police her name was "Dianne" and she didn't have her license with her.As Smith pulled out, he saw the woman cut between two homes.Breiner provided a clothing description to Smith, which matched what the woman was wearing, and police began to pursue her. Eremus surrendered after a short chase and told police she lied because she knew there was a warrant for her arrest and that she would be going to state prison if she was caught.Police were then dispatched to the home where Eremus had been staying for the theft of a firearm. The homeowner told police that a backpack containing a Ruger .308 rifle with a scope, valued at over $1,100, was taken out of his bedroom.Police found the gun in a concealed crawl space inside the room where Eremus had been staying at the home. They also found marijuana. She was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek on March 28 and is awaiting a preliminary hearing, which has been scheduled for Wednesday. She was taken to Carbon County Correctional Facility after she was unable to post bail, which was set at $4,000.
