Carbon County's sheriff's office is working on improving efficiency on all of its electronic processes.

On Thursday, the county commissioners approved a $173,838.62 purchase for the Teleosoft CountySuite for the sheriff's department."The purpose of the software is to improve efficiency across all levels of what the sheriff's office does, from accounting and sheriff sales to processing civil and criminal warrants," said Sheriff Anthony Harvilla. "It covers everything in the sheriff's office and is designed to improve efficiency and to have accurate accounting of all transactions that occur."He said that the officer currently has multiple components to do what Teleosoft will do in one program.According to the documentation on Teleosoft, the system "accurately manages the entirety of your civil process" allowing employees to find and update case information, eliminate redundant data entry, help in the process of sheriff sales, integrating the accounting system to track costs and provide data reports easily.The software will be installed by KMS Consultants and should take approximately six months once the installation begins, Harvilla said.In other matters, the commissioners approved four contracts for its new archives building renovation project on the east side of Jim Thorpe.Bognet Inc. of Hazle Township was awarded the general construction contract for its bid of $615,836.Spotts Brothers Inc. of Schuylkill Haven received the plumbing contract for $31,460.Leibold Inc. of Pottsville received the HVAC contract for $112,400.Larry McCullion and Son Electrical Construction Services LLC of Summit Hill was awarded the electrical construction contract of $33,500.All were the low bidders for the project. Bidding was opened during last week's commissioners' meeting.
