A reported attempted abduction in Nesquehoning this morning turned out to be untrue.

Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith said that police investigated the claim, made by a 10-year-old girl that a man tried to abduct her this morning while at the bus stop and determined that there was no attempted abduction.

Smith said following the initial report, police interviewed the girl who made the claim.

Several family members, witnesses and students said that they did not see anyone matching the girl's description at the bus stop.

Police worked for three hours trying to determine if there was possible incident and determined that it was untrue.

Smith said they are unsure why the girl said what she said.
