A Carbon County man was jailed earlier this week for assaulting a woman at a Lehigh County hospital.

Fountain Hill police have charged Travis J. Litts, 35, of West Catawissa Street, Nesquehoning, with simple assault and harassment for an incident on Monday.According to police officer Steven M. Fritzinger, he was dispatched to St. Luke's University Hospital, room 863, at 10:22 a.m. for a reported assault. On scene the victim told him she had been punched several times in the face, head and back area by Litts.Fritzinger then spoke to a staff member who said she witnessed Litts standing over top of the victim, who was in a fetal position on the floor, while striking the victim in the head and face area several times with a closed fist.Fritzinger then interviewed Litts, who said he punched the victim in the face several times because she had "slept with his best friend."Litts was arraigned before a district judge on the charges and committed to the county prison after failing to post bail.
