Police: Tamaqua man bit woman, slammed head on floor

A Tamaqua man was placed in the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville on March 20 after a domestic dispute on Orwigsburg Street.

The Schuylkill County Communications Center received a call at 12:13 p.m. from a caller who said she had just been assaulted. The phone then went dead and efforts to re-establish a connection were unsuccessful.Tamaqua police went to the home and spoke with the victim, who said she had been arguing with Christopher Eli Blevins, 50. At one point he tried to grab something from her and the two wrestled for the property. During the struggle Blevins bit both of the victim's arms, then slammed her head on the tile floor. Her injuries were visible.Blevins told police he was defending himself.He was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, on charges of simple assault and harassment. Bail was set at $10,000 percentage. Unable to post the required $1,000, Blevins was transported to the county prison.
