Monroe vehicle stops lead to drug arrests

Two vehicle stops by state police at Fern Ridge has led to drug charges.

Troopers said at 7:35 p.m. on March 6 a traffic stop was made along Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County.A small amount of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia was found following a search of the vehicle.Herbert Rojas and Javier Perez, both of Kankakee, Illinois, were arrested.The second stop was made on March 7 at 9:34 p.m. along Route 115, near the I-80 on-ramp, also in Tobyhanna Township.The stop resulted in a small amount of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia being found following a search.The driver, Scott Michael Maier, 23, of Effort, was taken to the county DUI center for a blood test.He is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, drug counts and motor vehicle code violations.The charges are pending toxicology tests, troopers added.
