Federal inmate in Schuylkill sentenced for drugs in prison

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that John Vercusky, 39, a federal inmate, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani in Scranton, on Tuesday to serve three months in prison for possessing contraband at the United States Penitentiary located in Minersville, Schuylkill County.

According to U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler, Vercusky was caught in possession of marijuana on Oct. 25, 2015, while incarcerated at USP Schuylkill.The investigation was conducted by the FBI and officers from USP Schuylkill. Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan Gotlob prosecuted the case.
