Crashes investigated

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers recently.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 6:36 a.m. March 10 along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Zachary J. Knox, 24, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2005 Mazda 3 northbound and traveling too fast for conditions on the snow-covered road. He lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a guide rail on the right side. Knox was not injured but the Mazda had to be towed.• Troopers investigated a one-vehicle crash at 7:05 p.m. March 10 along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township. Mikel S. Rumke, 38, of Nesquehoning, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet HHR eastbound when she lost control. The vehicle exited the road on the right side, entered the parking lot of the Mountain View Notary, where it struck a brick sign for the business. Rumke was not injured but her vehicle had to be towed. Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers of the Penn Forest Fire Company. Troopers cited Rumke for the crash.• A hit-and-run crash was reported on March 10 at 7:46 p.m. along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough, Carbon County. Troopers said a vehicle crossed into the left lane and collided with a 2005 Suzuki Reno operated by Nelson R. Chang Lopez, 44, of Tobyhanna. After impact the other driver fled the scene. No injuries were reported.• A rear-end crash was reported at 7:53 a.m. March 13 along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a 2003 Hyundai Accent operated by Jordan M. Jacobson, 21, of Effort, rear-ended a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado truck driven by Gary L. Heckman, 44, of Gilbert. There were no injuries. Troopers cited Jacobson for following too closely.
