Northern Lehigh school board
On an 8-0 vote, Northern Lehigh School Boardrecently took the following action:
• Agreed to enter into a partnership agreement with Lehigh Carbon Community College to provide students with greater options to earn concurrent high school/college credit. The term of the Dual Enrollment Partnership Proposal between the district and LCCC will be Aug. 19, 2017, through June 30, 2020.• Approved the superintendent to execute an agreement between the district and the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 to provide special education services for the 2017-18 school year.• Appointed Thomas Bold as a temporary vacancy replacement, Peters Elementary first-grade teacher, replacing a teacher on family medical leave, at the substitute teacher rate days, 1-30; day 31 and beyond, $46,875 prorated, effective on or about April 24, with a termination date on or about June 8.• Appointed Jennifer Jones as a licensed health room assistant districtwide LPN, at a salary of $21.28 per hour, for 5 3/4 hours per day, five days per week during the school year, effective March 14.• Granted Michele Dotta permission to attend the PA Association of Pupil Services Administrators: Avoiding the Potholes on the Road to Resiliency conference, from April 20-21 at the Eden Resort in Lancaster, with the cost of registration $295, meals, $32, and travel, $78, for a total cost of about $405, to be funded by the district's Special Education budget.• Granted Krystle-Dawn Tiedeman permission to attend the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association - Immersion Experience in Leadership conference, from June 19-21 in Chambersburg, with the cost of travel $140, which is the total expected cost, to be funded from the high school library budget. The board also granted Tiedeman permission to attend the Pennsylvania School Libraries Association - Key Communicators Network conference from July 11-12 in Hershey, with the cost of travel $79, which is the total expected cost, to be funded from the high school library budget.• Approved Christine Tedaldi as a substitute instructional aide for the 2016-17 school year at the 2016-17 substitute rate.• Approved Sabrina Clouse as a substitute custodian for the 2016-17 school year at the 2016-17 substitute rate.• Approved "professional employee" status for teacher Steven Jonkman, per the school code, for having satisfactorily completing three years of service to the district.• Acknowledged that teacher Janelle Scheckler has completed the requirements that entitle her to a salary increase for the second half of the 2016-17 school year.• Adopted the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit's Notice of Adoption of Policies and Procedures and Use of Funds by School District for submission with the 2017-18 IDEA B, Section 611 project application.• Approved the second reading of policies related to programs, nondiscrimination in school and classroom practices; pupils - unlawful harassment; pupils; homeless students; pupils - educational stability for children in foster care; and employees - unlawful harassment.• Approved a resolution establishing the compensation for the district elected qualified tax collectors for the next four-year term of office, commencing January 2018 through December 2021.• Agreed to renew an agreement through June 30, 2019, with Berks County Intermediate Unit for tax bill services related to the 2017 and 2018 tax years.• Approved the 2017-18 district calendar.• Approved the resolution to identify Official Local School District Holidays in accordance with PA School Code Section 1502.
