A Monroe County driver, who was initially stopped for speeding, is facing a driving under the influence charge.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said Juan C. Vasquez-Hidalgo, 30, 3149 Hamlet Drive, Tobyhanna, was observed speeding along Route 196 near Renaissance Lane, in Tobyhanna, on Saturday at 2:57 a.m. He also failed to lower his high beams on his vehicle. A vehicle stop was made and the officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.Vasquez-Hidalgo failed field sobriety tests and was then taken to the county DUI center for a blood test. In addition to the DUI charge he is also facing multiple motor vehicle code violations.
