Garage burns in West Penn Township

A garage was burned to the ground following a fire early this morning in West Penn Township.

Firefighters were dispatched at 5 a.m. to 115 Millhead Road, according to township fire Chief Dennis Fritzinger, Jr.Fritzinger said firefighters encountered a fully involved garage fire that was endangering the home.Fritzinger said the owner was home at the time trying to spray the home down with a garden hose, which helped tremendously.While the garage was a total loss, there was just minor damage done to some of the siding of the home, Fritzinger said.No injuries were reported.The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Fritzinger said.Also assisting at the scene were the Walker Township, New Ringgold, Mahoning Valley and Tamaqua American Hose fire companies.Fritzinger said the fire department is thankful to “all the companies that assisted us.”
