Samuels wins 800 at PSAC Indoors

Pleasant Valley graduate Khai Samuels captured first place in the 800 meters at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Samuels, a sophomore at East Stroudsburg University, beat out his closest competitor by over 1.5 seconds to cruise to the victory.A former Times News Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2015, Samuels turned in a career-best mark of 1:53.73 to easily win the race. The second-place finisher was clocked in 1:55.37.Samuels entered the competition, held at Edinboro University, with a top mark of 1:55.32 before shattering that time. His mark in now the second best in school history in indoors, trailing just the 1:53.19 set by Mike Saparito in 2011.The Effort native was also a part of the ESU 4x800 relay team that finished in third place. The foursome turned in a time of 7:54.25.As a freshman, Samuels ran a 1:53.53 during the outdoor season at the PSAC Championships.
