Six defendants pleaded to DUI charges before Judge Steven R. Serfass in county court on Thursday.

Edwards Ramos, 39, of Reading, Berks County, was arrested on March 15, 2015, along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. Ramos admitted to troopers having smoked marijuana earlier.Serfass sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension, render 25 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and follow all recommendations of his drug and alcohol evaluation.He began the jail term immediately.Jared Travis Day, 29, of Slatington, was arrested on Jan. 20, 2015, along Bridge Street in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Day can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and also apply for the IPP.Winfred Yarosh Jr., 39, of Tobyhanna, was arrested on Nov. 25, 2015, along Maury Road in Penn Forest Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Yarosh can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.Christopher Allen Evans, 33, of Orwigsburg, was arrested on Aug. 13along West Broadway in Jim Thorpe by state police at Lehighton while operating a motorcycle erratically. A test revealed a 0.20 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and apply for the IPP.Lloyd Richard Heckman Jr., 55, of Parryville, was arrested on Aug. 18along Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.Jason Michael Wentz, 42, of Lehighton, was arrested on Oct. 15along Bridge Street in Weissport by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Wentz can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
