An Albrightsville man admitted he tried to defraud an auto insurance company.
David Dillon James, 28, pleaded to one count of insurance fraud before Carbon County Judge Steven R. Serfass on Thursday.The Northeast Insurance Fraud Task Force charged that James attempted to defraud Safe Auto Insurance. According to investigators, James was involved in a crash on Sept. 12, 2016, along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township but did not have any insurance. The same day he applied for auto insurance with Safe Auto and received a policy a short time later. After receiving the police approval, he filed a claim for the Sept. 12 crash but said it occurred on Sept. 19 after he was approved for insurance.Serfass deferred sentencing to April 28.
