West Penn Fire Company has agreed to buy a new firetruck.

The township's board of supervisors recently approved a resolution for a tax-exempt loan regarding the fire company's purchase.It will cost just under $400,000 for the 2017 KME Predator Panther, for which they are loaning money from Mauch Chunk Trust's South Tamaqua branch.The fire company is expected to take tentative delivery in October.It will replace a 1989 Ford E One engine, and join a 2008 Rescue, 2009 Tanker and 1985 Brush Truck.The board also:• Agreed to seek financing for the purchase of a 2017 police car from Kovatch in the amount of $44,230.• Appointed Herb Woodring as a temporary secretary at the rate of $12.75 an hour while the township's secretary is away on sick leave.• Announced that a park cleanup will take place at 8 a.m. April 8, with the rain date 8 a.m. April 22.
