Rush Township issues snow parking rule

Rush Township now has an edict in place that regulates the parking of vehicles during periods of declared snow emergencies.

On a 2-0 vote, the township's board of supervisors on Thursday adopted an ordinance to that effect. Supervisor Jeaninne Motroni was absent.Township solicitor Chris Riedlinger said the ordinance applies to instances in which there is at least 2 inches of snow or an accumulation of ice on roads.In a related matter, the board adopted a resolution which allows it to designate several streets or portions of streets as snow emergency routes.Those include Meadow Avenue, from Oak Lane to Grove Street, Laurel Street, from Rymin Road to Ardmore Avenue, and Mariner Street, between Carmen Street and Lincoln Drive.Afterward, board Chairman Shawn Gilbert heaped some rather lofty praise on the township's road department for their recent cleanup efforts."Our road department did an excellent job in a day and a half," Gilbert said. "Our township is in good, good shape."Gilbert said the road department had it all cleaned out and widened."They did a good job," he said. "We're impressed."Gilbert said the township has good equipment, and noted that the township spent a lot of money to ensure that.Other businessThe board also:• Approved the AutoZone sewage facilities planning module exemption mailer.• Thanked Highwood USA for donating a picnic table to Miller Park.• Announced that an Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 1 to 10 will be held at 1 p.m. April 8 at Miller Park, weather permitting.• Announced that residents who normally have their garbage picked up todaywould instead have it picked up on Saturday.
