N. Lehigh fire alarm update to cost $23K

It will cost Northern Lehigh School District nearly $23,000 to improve a fire alarm system at one of its elementary buildings.

The school board on an 8-0 vote on Monday authorized administration to purchase equipment from Simplex to upgrade the system at Peters Elementary School at a cost of $22,980.This project is part of the 2017-18 general fund budget and will be completed during the summer.Cost to eat increasesAlso on Monday, the board approved increases to school breakfast and lunch prices for the 2017-18 school year.At the elementary school, breakfast will go from $1.35 to $1.45, while lunch will go from $2.45 to $2.55.As for the middle school and high school, breakfast will go from $1.85 to $1.95, while lunch will go from $2.70 to $2.80.Other businessThe board also approved:• Purchasing a John Deere zero turn mower from Hilltop Sales and Service for $11,114. Hilltop Sales and Service is a member of the Pennsylvania State Contract Pricing - CoStars. This project will be paid from the 2016-17 long range equipment budget.• Soliciting bids to replace eight sets of exterior doors at the high school to be completed during the summer. This project is part of the 2017-18 general fund budget.• The agreement to become a member of the Le-Nor-Co Purchasing Cooperative for joint purchasing of materials, supplies, equipment and any other products or services related to the operation of the food service department. There is no fee associated with membership.
