Caution: blowing, drifting today; reduced speed limit on turnpike

Some blowing and drifting snow may once again occur today, resulting in localized areas of reduced visibility and slippery conditions.

High winds are causing snow drifts and slick pavement conditions on the upper section of the Northeastern Extension, Interstate 476.

Therefore, the PA Turnpike has temporarily lowered the speed limit to 45 mph on the Northeastern Extension north of the Lehigh Tunnel (milepost 70) to the end of the extension at Clarks Summit (milepost 130).

Later Friday night into Saturday...Some light snow accumulations are possible, and also some sleet and pockets of freezing rain especially north of I-78.

Today: Scattered flurries after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 31. West wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 14. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. West wind 6 to 10 mph.

Friday Night: Snow likely, mainly after 5am. Cloudy, with a low around 29. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday: Rain and snow likely, becoming all rain after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday Night: A chance of snow before midnight, then a slight chance of snow showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 39.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40.
