March 15, 2007 - Panther Valley's Allysa Vavra and Marian's Kristen Shickora both win gold medals on the second day of the PIAA Class 2A Swimming Championships. Vavra captures the 100 breaststroke and is named the female swimmer of the meet. The junior helps the Panthers finish second in the team standings. Shickora cops the 100 backstroke, breaking her own state record in the process. PV's Sami Vavra takes second in the 100 breast, while teammate Amanda Terray ends third in the 100 back. Tamaqua's Adrian Bumbulsky also medals, gaining eighth in the 500 freestyle.
