Monroe women to be honored

The Monroe County Women's Commission, an advisory committee to the County Commissioners, is hosting "From Bustles to Business Cards," a networking get-together Wednesday.

The event will feature a historical society speaker who will discuss the roles that the women of Monroe County have played throughout our history.Free light refreshments, a cash bar, and a wine tasting by the Blue Ridge Estate Winery will begin at 5 p.m. to allow time for mixing and conversation, with the talk beginning at 6 p.m.This annual event, at Whispering Pines Banquet Hall, 1445 Big Ridge Drive, off Route 209, East Stroudsburg, is being held to honor the seven local women who will be receiving awards for their community service that morning, at the Monroe County Commissioners meeting.The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. at the courthouse office building on North Sixth Street across from the old courthouse building. The public is welcome to attend.The following women will be recognized:Rosemary Driebe-Olofsson, Donna Zlocki, Ginny Kirkwood, Ann Catrillo, Gina Bertucci, Andrea McLaren, and Karin-Susan Breitlauch, DVM.All of the women have contributed their time and energy to enhance the lives of county residents and to improve our communities.
