Pennsylvania CareerLink of Carbon County is trying something new when it comes to job fairs.

Garry Wentz, administrator, told the Carbon County Interagency and Family Collaborative Board recently that the agency, which aims to help people prepare for and secure employment, is moving away from a large annual job fair that brings all employers hiring into one room."We're trying something new and going to targeted job fairs," he said.Targeted job fairs aim to bring employers in a certain industry together under one roof instead of having an assortment of career types in one place.Wentz cited the drop off in participation at job fairs as the reason for this new venture.CareerLink held its first targeted job fair in January for the health care industry. The event was held through a partnership with Lehigh Carbon Community College.Wentz announced that there is another targeted job fair coming up at LCCC, Jim Thorpe campus, geared toward manufacturing and production jobs. Employers who are scheduled to attend include Aerotek Staffing, Ametek, CTC Manufacturing, Gonnella Frozen Products, KME Fire Apparatus, Remmey Pallet Company and Structural Metal Fabricators.The fair was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but has been rescheduled because of the weather.A new date is expected to be announced within the next two weeks. Updates will be posted on Facebook, Twitter.In addition, there will also be information available on training opportunities at Carbon Career & Technical Institute, LCCC, Lehigh Career & Technical Institute and Triangle Tech available to those who would like to go into the field, but are not fully prepared.
