By Friday, demolition crews were successful in bringing down the Kaier Brewery on North Main Street, Route 339, in Mahanoy City. About 20 local residents, displaced from their homes since last Tuesday, were allowed to return and a few local businesses and a large day care facility allowed to reopen. Life in the neighborhood returned to normal by Saturday morning when this photo was taken. Clean up at the site is expected to take weeks, with the brewery complex supplanted by a children's park.
